These are the maximum heights and spreads to be used in Pony Club Jumping Competition. Lesser dimensions should be used if conditions dictate. FEI guidelines on the construction of courses should be observed.
The first round of all championship showjumping courses should be built at or near the maximum height permitted for the first round.

14.05.01 CALCULATING TIME
The formula for calculating the time allowed for a class is: Time = Distance divided by Speed. For example, for a course with distance 450 metres and speed 300 metres per minute:
450 ÷ 300 = 1.5 minutes x 60 = 90 seconds

14.05.02 OPTIMUM TIME CLASSES
Where “nearest to the optimum time” classes are run the following speeds are recommended:
Grade Speed (m/min)
C 325
D 325
E 300

Section 14.06 SCORING
Plancing points will be allocated on a sliding scale in relation to the number of competitors in a class. This will ensure that in small classes that combinations are not graded out too quickly.

Section 14.07 GRADING SYSTEM
Grading points can only be awarded when competing in graded Pony Club Showjumping classes that are categorised as Table A competitions (FEI Articles 238.1.2 (AM3); 238.1.3 (AM4); 238.2.2 (AM5); 238.2.3 (AM6); .245.3 (AM7); all competitions run under Article 273 (competitions over two round – a Grand Prix)).
A combination of horse and rider receiving points through placing in a Pony Club Graded competition, may gain sufficient points to be regraded to the next level.
"A" Combinations with 60+ points. Members under the age of eleven years are not permitted to compete in this grade.
"B" Combinations with 42 - 60 points
"C" Combinations with 24 -42 points
"D" Combinations with 12 points or less
"E" Except under exceptional circumstances approved by the PCANT riders must be under 17 years of age on the date of competition. Once a rider turns 17, their card must be upgraded to “D” grade. Once a rider turns 26 they may no longer compete in Pony Club graded events.

Section 14.08 CLASSES THAT DO NOT COUNT FOR GRADING
Any classes that are open to non-Pony Club members or non-Graded combinations do not count for grading, and grading points can not be awarded.

Section 14.09 COMPETING HORS CONCOURS (HC)
Hors Concours (HC) means that the combination may compete in a class but will not receive points or placings in that class.
A combination of horse and rider may be allowed to compete HC at the discretion of the Organising Committee of the event.
If a riders wishes to compete HC they must state so when nominating for that class. They may not then compete in another grade of that class on the same day, eg. if a rider wishes to compete in a grade lower/higher then what they are graded at they must compete HC, they are then not allowed to compete in their graded level for that class.

Note: That if a horse is competing in both Pony Club and Open classes at an event, then under EFA Rules “a horse, which has competed at an event Hor Concours, is not allowed to compete subsequently for prizes on that day at that event in the same ring”. This may mean that if you compete HC in a Pony Club class you may not be allowed to fully compete in the Open classes. Riders are advised to seek clarification from the Organising Committee of the event.
Combinations can not ride HC at Pony Club Championships.

Section 14.10 COMPETING IN PONY CLUB GRADED CLASSES
A combination of horse and rider can only compete in their graded level for graded Pony Club Showjuming classes, unless competing Hors Concours (HC), see Section 14.09. If they compete HC at a level other than their graded level they are then not allowed to compete at their graded level.

Section 14.11 COMPETING AT OPEN SHOWJUMPING EVENTS
Where a competition has both Pony Club graded showjumping and open showjumping classes, graded combinations may compete in both subject to the rules of that competition.
Grading points can only be awarded for graded Pony Club Showjumping classes (Section 14.07).
