Section 11.01 RULES
All Pony Club competitions shall be run under the applicable rules published by PCANT.
In the event of a situation in Pony Club competitions not being covered by a Pony Club rule, then reference should be made firstly to the appropriate EFA rules and if not covered by those, then FEI rules should be referred to.
Mounted Games will use International Mounted Games Rules for all National and International competition.
A competition is deemed to commence from the time the competitor enters the grounds at the venue on the day of the competition.
Dress and saddlery rules must be displayed at the event and included in the wording of programmes or schedules, eg "This event is run under the Rules and Regulations of PCANT, all dress and saddlery standards apply".

11.01.01 AGES OF MEMBERS FOR COMPETITIONS
Age of members will be determined as the age on the day of commencement of competition. Interstate and International competition rules may vary.

11.01.02 Rider
Riders may ride more than one horse on the day of competition, unless specified.
Riders may ride in more than one grade/class at the competition, but not on the same horse.

11.01.03 Horse
A horse may only compete in one grade/class at the competition.
A horse shall be ridden by the same rider throughout all sections of a competition.

Section 11.02 INDIVIDUAL COMPETITIONS
Competitions for individuals (as distinct from team competitions) are run under PCANT rules.

Section 11.03 TEAM COMPETITIONS
In team events all Pony Club teams must be nominated by their respective Club. All club teams must consist of riders under the age of 26.
Club teams in showjumping and dressage must consist of at least five riders. If the club does not have a fourth rider, one rider may ride a second horse upon written application to PCANT. If a club has not enough riders to make up a team, they may upon written application, request riders of another club to make up a composite team. The requesting club must make up the majority of riders on that team

Section 11.04 ENTRIES
Entries for NT Championships must be made through the rider's Pony Club Secretary. Entry requirements for other events are decided by the organising body and should be stated on the event schedule. Where the organiser provides an entry form it should be used if possible.

Section 11.05 DRAW
The order of starting will be drawn after entries have been received, but competitors with more than one horse to ride may be seeded at the discretion of the Organisers. The order of starting drawn up after the close of entries will be adhered to throughout the competition, unless the Organising Committee decides otherwise. Competitors must, under penalty of elimination, be prepared to start at the times shown on the time-table or as may be amended by the Organising Committee.

Section 11.06 RIDING IN ARENAS ETC.
With the exception of arenas marked "practice arena", competitors may not, under penalty of elimination, ride on, over or near any part of the Cross Country courses, nor enter any dressage or jumping arenas, except when actually competing.
Once on the ground, horses may only be ridden by their competing riders.

Section 11.07 Gear Checking
Gear Checking is required prior to the commencement of any section of a competition.

Section 11.08 Presentation
Placings for presentation will be made on the basis of serviceability, safety, cleanliness, fitting of gear, uniform and general presentation as a team. Placings in this part of the competition may count towards the final score. Points to be awarded as per the game scoring (3.8)

Section 11.10 ORDERS
Riders and owners of competing horses and their helpers must, under penalty of elimination, obey an order or direction given to them by any responsible official and they must, in particular, be careful not to do anything liable to upset or hinder the progress of the competition

Section 11.11 ELIMINATION.
The Disputes Committee may disqualify a competitor upon receiving a report from any official of the organising body, at any stage of the competition, for the following reasons:
a) dangerous riding
b) if, in their opinion, the horse is lame, sick, exhausted or dangerously out of control, and/or by direction of the Veterinary Surgeon;
c) for the misuse of whip or spur, or other ill treatment of the horse; or
d) for conduct unbecoming a Pony Club member including bad language, bad sportsmanship, etc.

Section 11.12 PROTESTS
Any dispute at a Pony Club fixture must be lodged in writing and accompanied by the appropriate fee with the Disputes Committee of the day. Disputes on behalf of members of a team should be signed and lodged by the Team Manager. Individual Associate and Senior Members may lodge their own disputes. Individual Junior Members (riders under 18yrs) must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
All protests must be lodged within thirty minutes of results in early phases, or ten minutes after final results. In the case of protests against the qualifications of competitors or horses, thirty minutes before the start of the second phase of the competition. The thirty minute time limitation for the lodgement of protests does not apply to administration, clerical and computing errors, however all protests must be lodged within ten minutes of the posting of final results.
Protests are considered by the Disputes Committee. The deposit is forfeited unless the protest is upheld.
Should there be any dispute regarding gear; the matter should be referred to the chief judge of the appropriate section.

11.12.01 Protest/dispute advisory committee
The advisory committee together with the judge are the final arbiters in making decision on disputes or protests. The committee reserves the right to alter or delete any part of the programme and make any alterations to equipment and/or the arena as required in the interests of safety and for any other reason considered necessary.

Section 11.13 RESULTS
Results of all Pony Club events must be forwarded to PCANT within 14 days following the event.

Section 11.14 NT CHAMPIONSHIPS

11.14.01 APPROVAL OF NT SCHEDULES
Schedules for all NT Championships, including all classes must be submitted for approval by PCANT, prior to distribution. It is recommended that the schedule be submitted no less than 3 months and at least six months prior to the event to allow for necessary changes. Entries will close no more than four weeks prior to the date of the Championships.

11.14.02 Hosts

11.14.03 PCANT TROPHIES
The winning Club may retain PCANT perpetual trophies. Trophies must be returned to PCANT two months prior to the next competition at which they are to be awarded.

Section 11.15 PRESENTATIONS
Both horse and rider must be presented in a neat and tidy manner in full Pony Club uniform and be mounted.
In cases where a rug is presented, the rider should dismount and lead their horse for presentation and until they leave the arena.
It is recommended that organizers specify where horses are to stand and to keep them separate from spectators.

Section 11.16 OFFICIALS
PCANT will, on notification, appoint a Pony Club Steward for that event. The organiser appoints all other officials.

11.16.01 Pony Club Steward
will be appointed by the PCANT Executive, from the list of persons approved, to officiate at all NT Championships. They will be XXX ? for the duration of the event.
Stewards will not alter, improvise or construct rules, which do not come under PCANT, EFA, or FEI rules.
The Steward will be regarded as the safety officer for all competitions unless a special appointee is named.

DUTIES OF A PONY CLUB STEWARD
1. To inspect the courses and arenas, before they are shown to the riders, and to satisfy themselves that the technical details are in accordance with the Rules.
2. To satisfy his or herself that the course is fair.
3. They have the authority to instruct the Organising Committee and the Course Designer to make any alterations to the arena or to the course, or to any technical detail associated with the conduct of the competition that they consider necessary.
4. To help the organisers in the conduct of the competition and endeavour to resolve problems wherever possible.
5. To advise the Disputes Committee and Appeals Committee (as the case may be) in relation to any dispute - particularly as to any rules which apply. The Pony Club Steward must not interfere in the decision making process of the Disputes Committee and must not attempt to unduly influence its decision making.

11.16.02 MEDICAL
A doctor should be present at least during the Show Jumping and Cross Country phases. If it is impossible to obtain the services of a doctor, the minimum alternative is for a current holder of a Senior First Aid certificate to be present.
An ambulance or designated vehicle properly equipped from the doctor's or first aid personnel's resources must be in attendance during jumping events.

11.16.03 VETERINARY
At NT Championships, a Veterinary Surgeon must be present throughout the competition. It is recommended that a Veterinary Surgeon be in attendance at all cross country phases of One Day Events.
