About the Squad:
The first year of the PCANT Development Squad has been and gone, and we have achieved
a variety of things.
The year began with a very successful team building camp, where
we got to know each other without our horses. The camp included many activities designed to strengthen friendships and
teach us about a healthy, active life. Activities included a fitness session, Life Be In It team building
activities, bowling, mini golf, rock climbing, zone3, sand castle
building... Everyone really enjoyed the
camp and the opportunity to test themselves outside the comfort zone.
Our riders also planned and successfully ran a Pony Club Combined Training competition early in the year.

We also provided our members with
opportunities for mounted training. In
addition to the training sessions provided by our dedicated coaches, we also subsidised
clinics with professional coaches, including two clinics with David Finch.
There were of
course also fundraising activities, although these generally proved to be low
stress (mostly). Most successful were
the course crewing duties, the BBQs and quiz nights.
With all the
experience and planning in place from this year, the 2010 membership is shaping
up to be even better. We now have new
policies in place to ensure smooth running of the admin, as well as a dedicated
development officer to oversee the planning of regular training sessions
throughout the year.
