To become an accredited Certificate examiner, candidates must pencil at at least 2 tests at the relevant level before co-examining the certificate level with an examiner who is qualified at that level. (eg: D* level examiner would pencil at 2 C examinations, and then co-examine with an examiner who has their C or above qualification) The candidate must then be cleared by PCANT and the examination coordinator before they are fully qualified.
At all certificate testing days there must be a minimum of 2 fully-qualified examiners present, and preferably at least 2 pencillers (there may be more). Examiners should avoid examining riders from their own pony club, or with whom they are otherwise involved (eg: relative, private instructor etc.)
